Mission Statement
At Asian Blue Anchor Association, we believe no one should have to face life’s storms alone.
Our mission is to walk beside each person—especially those in immigrant communities—as they confront challenges such as crime, grief, mental health struggles, and systemic barriers. By fostering hope, dignity, and resilience, we empower families to heal, rebuild, and thrive.
Why I Started
In life’s most turbulent storms, everyone deserves a safe harbor—a place of refuge, guidance, and hope. For 35 years, Oakland has been my home, and for the past 26 years, I have dedicated myself to serving this vibrant community by being that harbor for individuals and families during their most difficult moments.
My work has focused on supporting families in crisis, whether they are navigating the aftermath of tragedy, overcoming systemic barriers, or seeking resources to rebuild their lives. As an advocate, I have been a steady source of support for countless families affected by crime, homicide, suicide, and mental health challenges. One of my most meaningful experiences was assisting the family of Jasper Wu in Alameda County, offering advocacy and care during an unimaginably difficult time.
Working for the City of Oakland has allowed me to extend this mission to a broader range of families, promoting unity and understanding across our diverse community. Fluent in Chinese, I have also dedicated myself to supporting immigrant families as they navigate complex systems to access essential services like welfare and food assistance. By volunteering as a translator, I help bridge language barriers, providing families with the tools and confidence they need to navigate unfamiliar systems.
This nonprofit was founded on the belief that everyone deserves a safe harbor in life’s most challenging moments. We provide a place of stability, compassion, and care while equipping individuals and families with the resources they need to move forward.
